                                    Industry and Trade operations in June, 2009

I. Feature

In June, situations of producing, trading and consumption reached stable and high grown. CPI increased slightly, export turnover was down.

1. Industrial production value and major products

In June, industrial production value approximate reached VND 870.998 billion, increased 18.8 percent compared with the same period last year. The first half of this year reached VND 4,672.06 billion, increased 10 percent compared with the same period last year and reached 47 percent of plans of the year.

- State industry (included defence industry) approximate reached VND 480.686 billion, increased 21 percent compared with the same period. The first half of this year reached VND 2,707.498 billion, increased 8.9 percent compared with the same period, and reached 47.9 percent of plan of the year.

- Local industry approximate reached VND 345.372 billion, increased 17.5 percent compared with the same period. The first half of this year approximate reached VND 1,695.787 billion, increased 12.1 percent compared with the same period and reached 44 percent of plan of the year.

- FDI approximate reached VND 44.940 billion, increased 6.7 percent compared with the same period. The first half of this year approximate reached VND 268.775 billion, increased 8.1 percent compared with the same period and reached 59.7 percent of plans of the year.

In June, major products increased such as: paving bricks 1,516.2 percent; animal feeds 106.8 percent; electricity for production 78.6 percent, cardboard 66.9 percent; cement 59.7 percent; rolled steel 39.2 percent; tea of all kinds 31.1 percent; coal 15.8 percent.

In June, major products down such as beer 51.3 percent, clothes 50.5 percent, tin 66 percent, ore 21.4 percent, electricity for trading 11.1 percent.

2. Trade and services

- In June, total of goods retail and service turnover reached VND 590 billion, increased 24.5 percent compared with the same period. The first half of this year reached VND 3,350 billion, increased 21.99 percent compared with the same period and reached 50.7 percent of plans of the year.

+ Total of enterprises goods retail and service turnover reached VND 231.6 billion, increased 20.3 percent compared with the same period, and the first half of the year reached VND 1,378 billion, increased 13.6 percent compared with the same period.

+ Total of private enterprises goods retail and service turnover reached VND 358.4 billion, increased 27.27 percent compared with the same period, and the first half of this year reached VND 2,172 billion, increased 27.99 percent compared with the same period..

- In June, CPI increased 0.86 percent compared with previous month, increased 1.68 percent compared with December, 2008 and increased 2.75 percent compared with the same period last year.

- In June, gold prices increased 6.05 percent compared with previous month, increased 24.08 percent compared with December, 2008 and increased 14.1 percent compared with the same period last year. USD prices increased 0.08 percent compared with previous month, increased 6.45 percent compared with December, 2008 and increased 10.45 percent compared with the same period last year.

3. Export and import

In June, export turnover reached USD 4.62 million, down 68 percent compared with the same period. In the first half of this year reached USD 25.3 million, down 41.5 percent compared with the same period and reached 20.9 percent of plans of the year.

+ In June, almost export products were down compared with the same period last year. Two products have grown such as medical equipment increased 68.09 percent and tea 170.89 percent.

+ The products were not exported such as titan, rolled steel.

- Import turnover reached USD 11.15 million, increased 29.1 percent compared with the same last period. In the first half of the year reached USD 48.05 million, down 39.89 percent.

+ In June, import products increased such as garment accessories, iron and steel 160.38 percent.

+ In June, import products down such as equipment and machinery, spare parts 46.65 percent.

+ Products were not imported such as fertilizers, steel.

4. Market management.

In June, Thai Nguyen market was stable.

5. State management.

- Implemented some projects that were approved by Thai Nguyen People Committees and by Government.
